Generic Motegrity (Prucalopride )

Common use
Motegrity is a prescription medication used to treat chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC) in adults. Prucalopride, its active ingredient, is a selective serotonin-4 (5-HT₄) receptor agonist that stimulates bowel movements by enhancing colonic motility.

Dosage and direction
Take Motegrity once daily at the same time, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water, and follow your doctor’s dosage instructions exactly.

Precautions
Tell your doctor if you have a history of intestinal obstruction, severe liver disease, or mood disorders. Caution is advised in patients with depression or suicidal thoughts, as rare psychiatric side effects have been reported.

Contraindications
Do not use Motegrity if you are allergic to Prucalopride or have known gastrointestinal perforation or obstruction. It should not be used in patients with severe inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn’s or ulcerative colitis.

Possible side effect
Common side effects include headache, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Rare but serious side effects may involve mood changes, palpitations, or allergic reactions.

Drug interaction
Prucalopride has a low potential for drug interactions, but inform your doctor about all medications, especially those affecting the central nervous system or kidney function.

Missed dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s near the time for your next dose, skip the missed one—never double the dose.

Overdose
Symptoms of overdose may include severe diarrhea, headache, or abdominal cramps. Seek immediate medical attention if an overdose is suspected.

Storage
Store Motegrity at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep it in the original packaging and out of reach of children.
